Hemali Rajyaguru
ASDOH, Class of 2012Hemali is a fourth year dental student at the Arizona School of Dentistry and Oral Health (ASDOH). She completed her Bachelor’s in biology at Arizona State University and Master’s in Public Health at A. T. Still University School of Health Management. The desire to serve her community and impact peoples’ lives motivated her to pursue a career in dentistry.At ASDOH, she has been involved with numerous extra-curricular, research, and community service activities. She is involved with on-campus organizations such as A.T. Still Student Ambassadors and American Association of Women Dentists. She travelled to the Harvard School of Dental Medicine for a 2 month research externship where she studied a new dental therapeutic. Additionally, during her second and third years as a dental student, she implemented multiple dental outreach events at the House of Refuge transitional housing community in Mesa, AZ. In her fourth year, she completed four 6 week clinical externships at community health centers around the U.S.Hemali is grateful for the opportunity to attend ASDOH and be taught and guided by extraordinary oral health professionals. She feels fortunate to be entering the field of dentistry where she has the opportunity to grow and learn while providing care to her community. Upon graduation, Hemali plans to continue her education at ASDOH in the Post-Graduate Orthodontic Program. |

Kinslee Scamaldo
ASHS/Physician Assistant Studies, Class of 2013Kinslee Scamaldo is 23 years old and a first year physician assistant student from Las Vegas, Nevada. She completed her bachelors degree at the University of Nevada, Reno where she participated in athletics, many clubs, and served a s a student ambassador for the College of Health and Human Sciences.Outside of her school schedule, Kinslee participated in Big Brothers Big Sisters of Northern Nevada, volunteered at the local food bank, and helped out with numerous charities.Upon graduation, Kinslee plans to work in either orthopedics or Emergency medicine. She has a passion for traveling and enjoys snowboarding, wakeboarding, and volunteering in her free time. |

Angela Marchant
SOMA, Class of 2015Angela Marchant was born in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. She was raised in the suburbs and attended school in the inner city of Milwaukee. This early experience of living the deep contrasts in society planted in her a passion for justice. She received a Bachelors of Arts in Women’s and Gender Studies and Health: Science, Society and Policy at Brandeis University in Waltham, Massachusetts.As part of her undergraduate work she studied in Kenya and conducted anthropological research in a rural agricultural village in Kissi, Kenya, about grandmother’s perceptions of health and female circumcision. After undergrad she worked at University of Wisconsin Hospital in Gynecologic Oncology clinical research. She also spent much time working with Operation Welcome Home, an organization run by and for homeless folks. She also was an integral part of Groundwork, a collective of white people working for racial justice, a process to which she is deeply committed.Angela is working toward degrees in Osteopathic Medicine and a Masters in Public Health. She hopes to cultivate tools, in line with the osteopathic tradition, to honor the body’s inherent ability to heal and, additionally, society’s ability to heal from disparities and oppression. She is putting these skills to practice as she completes her clinical years at El Rio Community Health Center in Tucson, Arizona. |
